Message from ECNO President
Brent McDonald, ECNO President
I am very excited and honoured to share some opening words welcoming everyone to ECNO’s first virtual conference. We certainly missed everyone last year and the opportunity to come together, share ideas and support each other for the benefit of our students and staff in our respective boards. While we are not yet physically able to gather, I have no doubt that we will continue to learn from each other and take powerful lessons back from our time together. In some respects, I believe we need to lean on and learn from each other more than ever before.
Once again, the theme of the ECNO conference seems to precisely capture a vision of the times we are in and how we can best succeed. Together Forward! …reflects the way each of you worked with your teams to manage the incredible amount of change throughout this last year and will be the key to our collective success as we look ahead to coming out of the pandemic.
Reliance and dependence upon IT support and services by our students and staff has never been more pronounced. ECNO is uniquely positioned to provide support for our member boards in leading this work back in your school boards. ECNO’s vision is to help create a world where technology empowers classroom success and streamlines administration for staff in school boards. Coming together as a community to collaborate with our sector partners is a critical step in helping make this vision a reality.
A special thank you to this year’s conference organizing committee and to Francis Mailloux as Chair of this year’s event. Your vision and commitment to creating a plan for this year’s conference is so appreciated by all! Thank you for your time, expertise, and commitment to bringing us all together at this year’s conference.
We are very grateful that you have included the ECNO conference in your professional development plans this year. It is always impressive to see the dedication and commitment that both school board staff and our vendor representatives bring to our formal presentations and informal opportunities for collaboration and ‘virtual’ networking. A sincere thank you for your incredible efforts over this past year and for your commitment to creating and supporting the best learning environments possible for our students across the province.
On behalf of the ECNO Board of Directors, I welcome you to the 21st annual ECNO conference and look forward to learning alongside you over the course of this year’s sessions.
Enjoy the conference!
