2021 Message from the ECNO conference committee chair
Francis Mailloux, ECNO Conference Committee Chair
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the ECNO conference committee, I welcome you to the 21st annual ECNO conference and a first of its kind for ECNO, with all sessions taking place virtually. You can rest assured that once it is safe to gather again in larger groups, the ECNO conference committee plans to resume what used to be, and what we are all certainly missing at this present time, the desire to be together in one common place, to share, learn and collaborate.
One of the many things that I think that we have all learned over this past year is the certainty of being uncertain of what each passing day will have in store for us, becoming more comfortable with the uncomfortable and being nimble in situations that you thought were next to impossible to maneuver in such a short window of time. This all ties nicely into the theme for the 2021 ECNO conference.
TOGETHER FORWARD symbolizes how we have collectively had to learn from each other and lean on each other for ideas, solutions and ICT supports from our many colleagues and vendor partners in this uncharted territory. At no other time in history have we seen such mass adoption and reliance on educational technology and supports in our schools, homes and communities at large. Although this past year has been challenging and stressful at times, I tend to focus on all of the accelerated innovation that it has brought about, and in such a short time frame, all while we were still “keeping the lights on” in our daily duties and serving an even greater audience than before with most of our staff, students, and parents at home.
Our virtual sessions will start on April 1, 2021 at 2pm with the opening of the 2021 ECNO conference. You can find out about what ECNO has been busy working on over the past year, see what ideas are brewing from the ECNO advisory committee and learn about various other ECNO projects and initiatives that have been ongoing.
From April 6, 2021 through June 22, 2021 the ECNO conference will be offering a wide variety of vendor sessions and school board best practice sessions that will be sure to offer you and your provincial colleagues very valuable professional development opportunities. All sessions will be one hour in length and be held on Tuesday and Thursday each week, with an AM session from 10am-11am and a PM session from 2pm-3pm.
Lastly, I would like to recognize and give my sincerest thanks to each of the members of the ECNO conference committee. I have the utmost of admiration and gratitude for the countless hours, sacrifice and effort that you have each demonstrated while still performing your daily duties at each of your respective school boards. You are all great models for volunteerism and what it truly means to move and achieve TOGETHER FORWARD!
See you at the 2021 ECNO conference virtual sessions!
